Force Stop & Clear Cache/Data (App Reset)
How to force stop an app and clear cache/data on Firestick/Android TV to fix login and playback issues.
If you are still having issues after checking your details, the next step is to fully close the app and clear its cache (and sometimes its data). This can fix login problems, freezing, and loading issues.
Before you start
- Clearing cache is safe. It removes temporary files.
- Clearing data will reset the app. You may need to log in again.
- The wording in menus can vary slightly depending on your device.
Written guide (menu steps)
Firestick / Fire TV
- Go to Settings on your Firestick.
- Select Applications.
- Select Manage Installed Applications.
- Select the app you are using.
- Select Force Stop.
- Select Clear Cache.
- If the issue continues, select Clear Data (this resets the app).
- Open the app again and try your action once more (log in, load channels, etc.).
